Reynoldsville Man Faces Additional Theft Charges

WINSLOW TWP., Pa. (EYT) – An additional count of receiving stolen property was filed this week against a Reynoldsville man who already is facing multiple charges related to thefts that occurred in Winslow Township last year.

Court documents indicate the DuBois-based State Police filed a first-degree misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property against 25-year-old Joseph James Alderton, of Reynoldsville, on Tuesday, June 26, in Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana’s office.

According to a criminal complaint, on August 25, 2017, a known individual reported that a Milwaukee 18 Volt toolkit was stolen from his residence on Vo Tech Road in Reynoldsville. The victim stated that if the tools were recovered, they could be identified by the batteries that were engraved “Horizon Homes.”

On September 19, 2017, Trooper Diaz was investigating a theft of tools from a trailer parked on another known victim’s property when, during the course of the investigation, a consent search was conducted at the residence of Joseph James Alderton.

According to the complaint, Trooper Diaz recovered the Milwaukee 18 Volt toolkit containing batteries marked “Horizon Homes” at Alderton’s residence. Later that day, the victim identified the toolkit as the one that was stolen from his residence.

In a related case, Alderton waived a preliminary hearing on misdemeanor theft and receiving stolen property charges on Wednesday, May 30, in Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana’s office. That case was transferred to the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas.

Alderton is currently free on $10,000.00 unsecured bail.
