Man Accused of Causing Intentional Head-On Collision on Route 219 Due in Court Next Week

SNYDER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A hearing has been scheduled for next week for the a man who allegedly caused an intentional head-on crash on State Route 219.

Court documents indicate 24-year-old Anthony John Mancuso Jr., of Penfield, is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak at 2:30 p.m. on October 30, on the following charges:

– Aggravated Assault – Attempts to cause or causes Bodily Injury with deadly weapon, Felony 2 (four counts)
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2 (four counts)
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2 (two counts)
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary (two counts)
– Disorderly Conduct Engage In Fighting, Summary (two counts)
– Disregard Traffic Lane (Single), Summary
– Careless Driving, Summary
– Reckless Driving, Summary

He is currently free on $40,000.00 monetary bail.

The charges stem from a crash that occurred on Route 219 in Snyder Township on Friday, August 28.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 6:25 p.m. on August 28, DuBois-based State Police responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Route 219 approximately 200 feet south of Westville Road in Snyder Township, Jefferson County.

At the scene, they found that a silver 2019 Subaru Crosstrek, operated by Anthony John Mancuso Jr., had crossed over from the southbound lane into the northbound lane and struck a silver 2008 Jeep Wrangler head-on, occupied by two known victims.

The complaint states police interviewed the victims, who both reported Mancuso crossed into their lane and struck them head on. The female victim also related she had just ended an eight-year dating relationship with Mancuso earlier that day. The complaint notes the victim was noticeably shaken up and was crying at the scene.

Mancuso was then interviewed.

According to the complaint, he reported the female victim had ended their relationship earlier that day and stated she had items of his that he wanted back. He told police he was traveling south when he saw the victim’s vehicle traveling north and reportedly admitted he crossed into the victims’ lane of travel and struck their vehicle head-on.

Mancuso stated he intended to stop the victims from moving, the complaint states.

Mancuso’s vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage and multiple air bags were deployed as a result of the crash. The victim’s vehicle sustained internal disabling damage from the crash.

Mancuso Jr was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak at 9:00 a.m. on August 29.
